Freedom Rock dedication set
Celebration planned for Veteran’s Day in Stratford
STRATFORD – The Hamilton County Freedom Rock Park Committee has announced an event will be held to honor all veterans and dedicate the Hamilton County Freedom Rock.
This event is scheduled for Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. It will be held at the Hamilton County Freedom Rock Park, 830 Shakespeare Ave.,which is located at the corner of Shakespeare Avenue and Tennyson Avenue (just north of the Shakespeare Community Center).
The rain location for this event will be held at 827 Shakespeare Ave., Smoke King Bones Restaurant
Artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II in Stratford in September to paint the rock with patriotic images, including an American flag painted to look like it’s draped over the top of the rock.
Sorenson said he paints 12 to 16 rocks each year, with the plan to complete one in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
