Music in the Park, Lynx tailgate/pep rally Thursday night

The chamber is helping kick off the fall Lynx sports season with a tailgate and pep rally on Thursday, Aug. 17. The cheerleaders will be getting everyone pumped up for another great season and the Lynx football, cross country and volleyball teams will be introduced.

Community members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs down for the tailgate starting at 6 p.m. Food will be available for purchase from the Hy-Vee grill and other snack vendors. There will be also be games for the kids.

The pep rally will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Music in the Park to follow. Those interested in stepping on stage are encouraged to tune up their instruments and warm up their vocal cords for the open mic portion of the evening. Between local artists, a house band will be playing for the public’s enjoyment.

“As a former Lynx athlete, I am know how important the fan base is to our local athletes,” Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce Director Linda Christianson said. “I am really excited for the tailgate and pep rally because it gives us an excuse to feature our local talent and allows us to get out and have a little fun prior to the start of school.”

Former Lynx athletes out there are being asked to bring their vintage photos from the Lynx football, cross country, volleyball, band or cheer squads from years past. Copies will be made and displayed on a wall of fame that will be displayed at the pep rally.

“Dust off your pom poms and come show our Lynx athletes some love,” said Christianson.
