Councilman announces re-election campaign

Logan Welch to seek second term

Councilman Logan Welch has announced that he will seek a second term on the Webster City Council.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for a second term on the Webster City Council. It has been an honor to represent you on the City Council for the last four years,” Welch said in his statement. “I have been humbled by your support during my first term and I look forward to continuing into a second.”

Welch said he hoped to continue his efforts to clean up nuisance properties, re-evaluate city ordinances, focused infrastructure repairs, supporting community pride and involvement while building a common-sense style of City government that promotes economic growth.

“I believe my abilities, direction and influence are still needed on the City Council,” he said.

Welch said he wanted to make his re-election bid announcement as soon as possible for two reasons. The first is to ensure there’s time to visit with voters before the Nov. 7 general election.

“The second reason is a simple one. I am eager to get the process started,” he said. “My favorite part of campaigning is meeting with and hearing from the community.”

The candidate said he would officially file his re-election paperwork as soon as the filing period opens, at the end of August.

Welch officially announced his re-election on Saturday during his Coffee with Councilman Welch event held at Mornin’ Glory Coffee Shop.

Two other council seats, currently held by Mayor John Hawkins and Matt McKinney, will also be up for election in the November election. Hawkins and McKinney have not announced whether they will seek another term.
