Council meets tonight

Officers to take oaths

Two Webster City police officers will take the Oath of Office at Monday evening’s city council meeting. Mayor John Hawkins will give the oath to officers Ryan Basinger and Dylan Rose.

Eagle scout candidate Blake Seiser will also be recognized at Monday night’s meeting. Seiser recently completed his Eagle Scout project, a bathroom renovation project at Kendall Young Park.

The council may approve setting a public hearing concerning the proposed rezoning of property from single-family dwelling and multiple-family dwelling to highway commercial property, for Tuesday, September 5 at 5:45 p.m. The property is located in an area west of Superior Street and north of Fairmeadow Drive.

The rezoning request is from Kwik Star out of La Crosse, WI. The rezoning would be for the purpose of a convenience store with a car wash, gas/diesel sales, and eight parking stalls for semis and approximately 33 stalls for regular vehicles.

The council may approve a request from Fire Chief Chuck Stansfield. The request is to authorize the mayor and city clerk to enter into a structural fire training agreement between the City of Webster City, the Webster City Fire Department and AE Properties in connection with property located at 1437 Burgess St. The WCFD would then conduct live fire training in the acquired structure.

The execution of three warranty deeds in Lots 5, 6 and 10 in the Brewer Creek Estates Third Addition may be approved. The three lots are being sold to Verand Homes Corp., for a total of $66,196.52. Closing is slated for Sept. 1, 2017.

The council may approve a request from the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish/youth group to close Des Moines Street between Bank and Water Street for a car show on Sunday, October 8 from noon to 3:30 p.m.
