Sculpture event draws area residents to Twin Parks

—Daily Freeman-Journal photos by Adri Sietstra Local residents flocked to West Twin Park Wednesday evening for the first night of the Arts R Alive Sculpture event. The fun continues tomorrow with music by Jive for Five beginning at 5 p.m. The artists will also be speaking about their pieces starting at 6 p.m.

The 7th Annual Arts R Alive in Webster City Sculpture Event festivities began Wednesday night at West Twin Park.

Residents perused eight pieces made by artists from across the country. Each piece was diverse. Nature, light, strength and life were all themes found throughout the recently placed art.

Activities continue tonight at West Twin Park beginning with music by the Jive for Five at 5 p.m.

The creators of the sculptures will be speaking about their pieces starting at 6 p.m.

Special guest and judge Dan Perry will make his remarks after the sculptors speak about their pieces. Perry is a sculptor from the University of Northern Iowa.

The Kris Karr Band, from Fort Dodge, entertains the crowd at West Twin Park Wednesday night during the Arts R Alive Sculpture event. Residents are encouraged to check out the newly placed sculptures and street paintings tonight beginning at 5 pm. at the park.

The event is free and open to the public. The event also features complimentary wine and cheese refreshments.
