Carr named Iowa Legionnaire of Year

Past Commander Caquelin presented Warren Post Trophy

Marvin Carr, left, of American Legion Post 191 in Webster City, was named the Department of Iowa Legionnaire of the year at the Iowa Department Convention in July. Presenting the award is Department Commander Ken Rochholz.

Marvin Carr, American Legion Post 191 Legionnaire of the Year was nominated for the Department of Iowa Legionnaire of the Year by Past Post Commander Dale Caquelin.

On July 22, 2017 at the Department Convention in Des Moines, Carr was selected to receive this honor. The award is based on several criteria, including: being a member in good standing, community involvement, outstanding service within the post, supporting and participating in Legion programs and exemplifying the Legion motto, “For God and Country.”

Presenting the award is Department Commander Ken Rochholz.

Also during the award presentation, Past Post Commander Dale Caquelin accepted the Warren Post Trophy, given to the Post that submits an impressive and comprehensive consolidated post report. This is the second year in a row that American Legion Post 191 has won this award.

Carr, who has served as the 8th District Commander, recently became the Post 191 Commander.
