Eight groups requesting funding for projects

Eight groups made presentations to the board to explain why they should receive grant monies. The H/M Tax Board will meet tonight at 5:15 p.m. to determine their final recommendations. These recommendations will be made to the city council for possible approval on July 17.

Eight local groups requested Hotel/Motel Tax grant monies Thursday evening at city hall.

A total of $221,132.71 was requested.

The Avenue of Flags is requesting $9,000 for the Avenue of Flags building and structure improvement.

The Boone Valley Izaak Walton League is requesting $7,355 for a trap range expansion.

The City of Webster City, ISU Extension and Hamilton County Conservation are requesting $1,212.71 for the Boone River Cleanup.

Hamilton County Exposition is requesting $8,000 for the Grand River Rodeo.

Legacy Learning Boone River Valley is requesting $23,140 for the LLBRV Telling our Stories and other projects.

The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce is requesting $23,100 for a tourism marketing plan.

The Webster City Community Theatre is requesting $5,825 for a performing arts center.

The Wilson Brewer Historic Park Committee is requesting $50,000 to help restore the log cabins located at the park.

The board also observed presentations from previous grant recipients.

HERO (Help Entertain and Restore Organization) spoke about their campaign for new seats at the Webster Theater.

Legacy Learning Boone River Valley spoke about the Community Cultural Consortium Branding and Webster City and LLBRV project advertising.

The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce spoke about their tourism marketing plan.

The Webster City Community Theatre spoke about Camp Creamery.
