Jenna Woodall, the 18-year-old daughter of Alex and Shelley Woodall of Kamrar, was crowned as the 2017 Hamilton County Fair Queen Thursday night during the coronation ceremony held at the Fairgrounds. A total of seven young women took part in the competition.

Woodall was crowned by last year’s queen, MaKayla Tapper. Woodall will now represent Hamilton County at the Iowa State Fair.

Marla Grubb, 17-year-old daughter of Mark and Holly Grubb of Ellsworth, was the first runner-up and Gabbi Struchen, 17, daughter of Dave and Nikki Struchen of Jewell, was the second runner-up. She was also presented with the Leadership Award. Gianna Gourley, 18-year-old daughter of George and Kathy Gourley of Stanhope, was presented the Congeniality Award.

Other members of the court include Madalyn Casady, the 18-year-old daughter of Ryan and Michelle Casady of Webster City; Madison Klocke, 17, daughter of Stacey Bartels of Jewell and Taylor Ratzke, 17-year-old daughter of Lori Ratzke of Dows and the late Rick Ratzke.

Emcees for the contest were Afton Holt and Whitney Lincoln. Erin Anderson sang National Anthem.

Cayson Carlson, Mason Claude and Dustin Nicholson served as the escorts for the queen candidates.

Judges for the contest were Kathy Bailey of Ames, Ashley Fitzgerald of Boone and Barb Peterson of Dayton.

The fair queen committee included Kathleen Hay, Carla Johnson and Kim Schaa.

The coronation ceremony also offered the return of the Vintage People who performed “ YMCA” and “Single Ladies.” The performance reportedly marked the group’s farewell tour.

The Hamilton County Fair Board also presented the Friend of the Fair award to longtime county 4-H and youth leader, Cheryll Entriken. She retired from her position this year with Hamilton County Extension and Outreach.
