2017 American Honey Queen proclamation to be read

A proclamation honoring Maia Jaycox, the 2017 American Honey Queen, will be read tonight at the city council meeting.

Jim Hisler and Jean Fox will be presented with plaques Monday evening.

A request from Square to close the 600 block of Second Street from Willson to Des Moines and Des Moines to the Alley on June 15 between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to set up for their film debut event at the Webster Theater is on the agenda for possible approval. Events and Music in the Park will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The council may approve a request from the Hamilton County Fair Board.

A resolution authorizing the mayor and city clerk to enter into a property usage agreement with Hamilton County, IA, for use of property at 1900 Superior St. is on the agenda for possible approval.

There is a motion on request from Webster City Fire Chief Stansfield to attend an Executive Fire Officer Program in Emmitsburg, MD, which the council may possibly approve.

Also on the agenda for possible approval is a resolution approving Change Order No. 1, increase in contract amount of $9,957.15 to the 2017 Water System Improvement Project with Wunsch Construction, Inc., Greene, IA.

The council may establish a nuisance property at 945 Water St. and order the abatement thereof within 30 days.

A request from the Webster City Police Department to purchase a vehicle using the Iowa State Bid Program is on the agenda for possible approval.

The first reading of a proposed ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Webster City concerning animal protection and control is on the agenda.

The first reading of an ordinance concerning the Youth Advisory Commission is on the agenda.

The council will set the date and time for the next Town Hall meeting.

A discussion will be had on the fireworks ordinance to conform to new legislation.

The council will also continue their discussion concerning electric rate options.

The council will meet in closed session before the regular meeting at 5:15 p.m. for a strategy meeting of public employers.

After the conclusion of the regular meeting. The council will meet again in closed session to discuss the purchase/sale of particular real estate.
