WILLIAMS — “The United States of America has been blessed beyond measure,” quoted American Legion 633 Commander Post Wayne Wahlert at Williams’ Memorial Day services on Monday.

“Once again a grateful nation joins together in many places today to remember those who gave that last full measure of devotion to duty in service to our country,” Wahlert told the assembly gathered in the Williams City Park. “America has a long history of those willing to give their all for our country.”

The event included the singing of the Armed Services’ anthems performed by the Williams Community Choir under the direction of Henrietta Norem.

“We come together on Memorial Day to pause for a moment to remember those who died,” prayed American Legion Post 633 Chaplain Craig Classon. “We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice”.

Following the services, the American Legion Post 633 Honor Guard fired a21-gun salute. The services then retired to the Williams and St. Mary cemeteries to conduct a 21-gun rifle volley at each location.
