Businesses plan 100-year celebration
Free concert set for June 2 at fairgrounds
Mark your calendars for a special date. Five area businesses celebrating 100-years in business are hosting a free concert for the community on June 2 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.
McMurray Hatchery, Hamilton County Farm Bureau, the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton County Fair and ISU Extension and Outreach, Hamilton County will mark their centennials in 2017, and along with the Daily Freeman-Journal, celebrating 160 years in business, will host Standing Hampton, a popular Midwest band that plays 70s and 80s rock and roll music.
The gates at the fairgrounds will open at 5 p.m. Parking on the grounds is $2 and the concert features free admission.
A Kids Zone, including a bounce house, will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. The concert will get underway at 7 p.m., concluding at 11 p.m.
Food vendors will be set up around the fairgrounds and a beer garden will be available.
Standing Hampton performs musical selections from the 70’s, 80’s and beyond, according to their website, covering such artists as Journey, Pat Benatar, Heart, Bon Jovi, Foreigner and Fleetwood Mac. Celebrating over 15 years as a group, this Des Moines-based sextet is comprised of five guys and one girl.
