Junior beef show set for the fairgrounds

The Events Center on the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Webster City hosts two days of Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association shows April 1 and 2. The Kent Habeger Memorial Classic, formerly held in Algona, is set for Saturday with the Hamilton County Cattlemen’s show on Sunday. Each show begins at 11 a.m.

Classes for steers and heifers of all breeds, including full-size and lowlines, are offered. Exhibitors, all under the age of twenty-one, compete for cash awards.

Judges for the event are Jared Boyert of Kewanee, Illinois and Travis Lautner of Adel.

The Cattlemen’s chuckwagon will be on the grounds serving rib eye and hamburger sandwiches.

Last year exhibitors from thirty-nine Iowa counties, Wisconsin and Minnesota participated. Entries will begin arriving Friday evening for the weekend’s events. Each exhibitor receives a Welcome To Webster City brochure provided by the Hamilton County Fair which includes a map of the city along with a list of stores and restaurants. In addition, attendees will receive the newly published 2017 Webster City Visitor’s Guide.

There is no admission charge to the fairgrounds or the arena.
