Webster City High School to present annual Variety Show this weekend
Dream Big is the theme for the Webster City High School Vocal Music Department’s annual Variety Show on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m.; and Sunday at 2 p.m. in Prem Sahai Auditorium.
Large ensembles will perform at each show. The Lynx Singers will sing “Things That Stop You Dreaming” by Passenger and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day. The Purple and Gold Singers will perform “Angel in Blue Jeans” by Train and “Hurt” by Johnny Cash and Nine Inch Nails.
The A Capella Group Chordination will sing “Black or White” by Michael Jackson, “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye (To Yesterday)” by Boyz II Men and “We Found Love” by Rihanna and Calvin Harris. Music n’ Motion Show Choir will perform “Geronimo” by Sheppard, “Shake Your Groove Thing by Peaches and Herb, “Morning Glow” from the musical Pippin and “Dream On” by Aerosmith.
The combined choirs will sing “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons and “Imagine” by John Lennon.
Auditioned acts will vary from day to day. Featured performers Friday night include: Maren Borer and Kyra McKee performing “I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker” by Sandi Thom; Bryan Ferrell performing a piano solo of “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith; Gianna Borer performing “A Change in Me” from Beauty and the Beast; Sydney Wardell performing “Simple Man” by Shinedown; and Haley Johnson performing “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles.
Saturday night performers include The Dance Connection; Shyann Cusey performing “Breathe (2 AM)” by Anna Nalick; Daniel Blankenship performing “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten; Maren Borer performing “Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)” by Regina Spektor; Gianna Borer and Matthew Johnson performing “At Last I See The Light” from Tangled and Kyra McKee performing “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac.
Featured performers on Sunday are Elycia Obrecht performing “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana; Breanna Bedford performing “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele; Logan Duff performing “Outskirts of Heaven” by Craig Campbell and Josie Asklund performing the dance solo “Color Blind.”
Josie Asklund, Bryan Ferrell and Ashton High are the emcees. Directors are Cinnamon Kleeman and Andrew Wotherspoon.
Advance tickets cost $8 and can be picked up at the high school office from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets at the door cost $5. The public is invited to attend.
