Legacy Learning Boone River Valley to offer educational, interactive workshops for all ages

Legacy Learning Boone River Valley is offering a diverse selection of workshops for the months of February and March.

Welding Skills for

Sculpture

Join Doug Abbott on Saturday, Feb. 25 to hone the basic skills it takes to make beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork.

The morning session (Session A) will be held at the Webster City High School welding shop, 1001 Lynx Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cost for the class is $50, including materials. There are still six spots left in the morning session.

The afternoon session (Session B) will be held at the Webster City High School welding shop from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The cost for the afternoon session is $50, including materials.

Nature works:

Garden Novas

Join instructor Doug Abbott and take the skills learned in Saturday’s welding sessions to create simple garden novas (decorative garden stakes) to accent a potted plant, garden path or highlight a special plants in your garden.

The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Webster City High School welding shop, 1001 Lynx Ave.

The cost for the workshop is $75, including some materials. Individuals may also purchase some from the instructor or bring their own.

Students must have taken Welding Techniques – Skills Pre-workshop (or with permission from instructor previous welding experience.

There is a limit of eight students in the class.

How to Enhance Your

Photos

Instructor Maureen Powers will teach her class how to photograph ordinary everyday objects and begin the process of turning them into works of art by seeing them in a different way through perspective, lighting and composition. The second day will involve the use of Photoshop to finish the process of creating an art piece.

This class will be held on Saturday, March 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 5 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Hickory Cabin at Briggs Woods Park.

Cost for the class is $100. Individuals should bring a camera and/or cell phone, a laptop is optional. The early bird rate is $75 through Feb. 17.

There are ten spots available in this course.

Traditional Lao Cooking

`LaoThai Chefs Anne Channoi, Chien Maikhio, and Lynne Kannuan will be teaching individuals how to make four Laotion dishes on Saturday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Join these instructors at All Cultures Equal for a day of culinary culture. Students will create these dishes from start to finish in a live kitchen.

Cost for the class is $45 with a $10 materials fee paid to instructors on the day of class.

The early bird rate is $40 plus the $10 fee on the day, if students sign up by Feb. 17.
