‘Murder on a Budget’
Theatre production to open next Friday
The cast and crew of “Murder on a Budget” are getting ready for opening night of the Webster City Community Theatre’s first production of 2017.
“Murder on a Budget” opens Friday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Webster City Community Theatre.
Writer and director Sally Evans said the play centers around a high school class reunion that goes awry.
“It’s a class reunion and things have gone terribly wrong. There’s a murder,” said Evans. “In the first place, they were supposed to have a nice, luxurious cruise. Some of the funds disappeared so they had to take an offseason cruise on a crummy ship, so the food’s not good and the cabins are small and then someone gets murdered, so things are not going well.”
There are 13 cast members in the production and two narrators.
“I think just about everyone has lived through a class reunion and I think they can identify,” said Evans. “There are some stereotypical characters that I think people will recognize.”
The show opens on Friday Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Additional showtimes include Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun for just about anybody, any age,” Evans said.
Tickets are $12. Tickets can be purchased at the Webster Theatre Community Box Office, online at http://www.wcctonline.org, or by calling the theatre at (515) 832-4456.
