Crime Stoppers mark 4 years

In its first few years of existence, the Hamilton County Crimestoppers have logged an impressive record.

Thanks to tips from local citizens, 97 individuals have been apprehended and $4,350 in reward money has been awarded for those tips.

The organization publishes a Most Wanted poster which features individuals wanted on a variety of charges. The posters offer photos of the individuals, the charges and the amount of the reward for information.

The Crimestoppers organization is comprised of volunteers from all across Hamilton County. Funds raised by the organization are primarily used to pay tipsters for information leading to the apprehension of suspects with outstanding warrants, according to Crime Stoppers board President Terry Christensen.

“All funds raised stay in Hamilton county with the exception of a small membership fee for the national Crime Stopper organization plus the annual Tip Soft service,” he said. “The annual cost of this service is covered by WCF Financial Bank, we greatly appreciate their willingness to participate in our groups efforts.”

Tax deductible donations may be sent to Hamilton County Crimestoppers, PO Box 315, Webster City, IA 50595.

Christensen said, “Donations of any amount are welcome as we strive to make our county safer.”
