New day, venue for Relay

Committee officials for 2016 Relay for Life of Hamilton County have announced that this year’s event will be held on a new day at a new venue.

The Relay will be held at West Twin Parks Thursday, June 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Webster City.

Officials said the event will be in a similar format as years past with food, music, games, luminaries, a walking path, and the survivors and caregivers walks. The Webster City Fire Department has agreed to be the site of the Survivors Station. This year a free meal will be served to each survivor and one guest.

Committee members said that now is the time to get teams registered.

“It is very easy to start a Relay team. Your team might be your co-workers, a family group, your church group, civic etc. Your team can consist of just a few people or might be several dozen folks. You can also join an existing team,” said committee member Marsha Halbach.

The Hamilton County Committee is hosting a Chris Cakes All You Can Eat Pancake fundraiser at The Bridge on April 17th 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost to attend is a freewill donation.

“It’s all you can eat pancakes, sausages, juice or coffee. Chris Cakes puts on a great feast and they make it entertaining too,” said Halbach. A gourmet dessert sale will be held during the pancake breakfast.

Prizes are available for any team registered by April 17. Teams can be registered during the and committee members will be available to answer any questions. A goal of 20 teams has been set for Hamilton County.
