Bethany Life Foundation receives $50,000 contribution

STORY CITY – The Bethany Life Foundation’s thrift store, Affordables, has made its annual contribution to Bethany Life. On June 5, Denice Reisetter, Affordables’ store manager and many of her volunteers gathered to celebrate the event. Reisetter said, “Our volunteers give over 5,000 hours of their time to make Affordables a success. Their contribution of time and hard work results in our ability to make this financial contribution to Bethany Life. They are invaluable to our mission and I thank all of them.”

The Affordables contribution is being designated to the Building Tomorrow campaign which is supporting the $17 million dollar construction project at Bethany Manor in Story City. The first phase of the project is now completed and includes an 18 bed rehabilitation center. The second phase will begin soon with the building of a new 18 bed long term care household.

Larry Elphic, Bethany Life’s Foundation Director commented, “The Building Tomorrow Campaign’s goal is $1 million. This gift from Affordables and their volunteers is a tremendous boost and we hope the rest of our community will step up and help us finish our campaign. We currently need approximately $90,000 to meet our goal.”

Affordables is located at 630 Pennsylvania Avenue in Story City, IA. Their merchandise includes both donated and new items including indoor and outdoor furniture, clothing and household goods, books and toys, tools and small appliances, bedding, crafts, jewelry, plus much more.
