Youth and Shelter Services receives three-year accreditation

CARF International has announced that Youth and Shelter Services Inc. has been accredited for a period three years through April 2018..

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of national accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows YSS’s substantial conformance to the 2,500 national best practice standards of CARF.

CARF is a national accrediting organization whose primary responsibility is to ensure that nonprofit agencies serving clients with behavioral health and other child welfare problems are meeting nationally recognized program quality standards.

An organization receiving a three-year accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. YSS has demonstrated to a team of CARF surveyors that the agency is committed to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality. The five on-site surveyors additionally traveled to and inspected YSS sites in Ames, Boone, Nevada, Webster City, Marshalltown and Des Moines.

“I have always felt proud of our YSS staff, but this review by CARF not only confirms my sense of pride but moves my respect and gratitude to a new and sky high level,” said YSS Chief Executive Officer George Belitsoes.
