ISU Extension to offer food safety training

Iowa State University Extension & Outreach is sponsoring food safety training for food service professionals on Thursday, November 14th at the Hamilton County Extension office located at 311 Bank Street in Webster City.

“We live in a time when food safety hazards and risks are prevalent. Serving safe food is mandatory. This training program aims to train food service professionals about industry standards and their obligation to meet them,” said Nancy Clark, ISU Extension nutrition and health program specialist.

The program is based on the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s ServSafetm certification program and the Iowa Food Code. Participants will receive a copy of the ServSafe(tm) Essentials training manual and have the option of testing for ServSafetm certification.

Preregistration is due by Nov. 7. The class starts at 9 a.m. with the exam scheduled for 5 p.m. The cost is $135 and includes the manual and examination fee.

For more information about the program, contact the Hamilton County Extension office at 832-9597 or call Nancy at (515)341-0261.
