Vierkandt, Huisman wed

Rebecca Vierkandt, daughter of Jim and Steph Vierkandt, of Alden, and Lucas Huisman, son of Steve and Glenda Huisman, of Jewell, were married June 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hubbard. A reception was held at the Randall Gym.

The bride wore a gown with a soft lace overlay. The A-line gown featured a sweetheart neckline, dropped waist, a satin natural waistband and a lace motif with hand-beaded pearl centers that trailed down the skirt to the hemline and chapel length train. The two-tiered veil featured pearl beading. The bride and bridesmaids carried white rose bouquets.

Sommer Mosch, former classmate and friend of the couple, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Natalie Ostheimer and Paige Hoversten, both friends of the couple and sister of the Bride, Leah Vierkandt. The bridesmaids wore long black dresses, accented with platinum silver on the belt and ruffle strap.

The groom wore a black tux with a white shirt, vest, and tie. The best man was Luke Johnson, a former classmate. Groomsmen were brothers of the groom, Kyle and Alex Huisman and brother of the bride, Luke Vierkandt. They wore black tuxes with a white shirt, silver vest and tie.

The bride and groom’s fathers lit the candles for the ceremony. Both the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom carried a white candle in glass stemware to light the outer tapers of the unity candle.

Personal attendant to the bride was Laura Henderson, friend of the couple. The host and hostess’ were Dan and Karleen Vierkandt, uncle and aunt of the bride and Earl and Lesa Vold, friends of the couple. The organist was Annette Sweeney. The Rev. Jay Jaeger of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Buckeye, officiated the service.

The bride and groom are both 2009 graduates of South Hamilton High School. Rebecca graduated from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, in May 2013. She majored in elementary education, with a reading endorsement and her concentration was in Spanish. She is employed at the ISU Extension, Iowa Falls. Lucas graduated from Ellsworth Community College in 2011 with a major in masonry and carpentry. He is employed at Henderson Farms.

The couple resides in Jewell.
