Hawks maintain position in AP 2A Top 10

WEBSTER CITY — At the halfway point of the season, the South Hamilton boys’ basketball team remained at No. 8 in the latest Associated Press Class 2A rankings.

The Hawks garnered 41 points in the latest poll released yesterday afternoon, four points behind No. 7 Western Christian. North Linn continued to sit at the top of the class with eight of the 11 first-place votes and 107 points, well ahead of No. 2 Camanche (86 points) and No. 3 Treynor (85).

At 10-1, South Hamilton’s lone loss came against third-ranked (3A) Gilbert last month. The two teams will battle again later this month in Jewell. The Hawks own a victory over South Central Calhoun, which jumped into the 2A Top 10 at No. 10.

Waukee (4A), Maquoketa (3A) and Grand View Christian (1A) are ranked No. 1 in their respective classes. Waukee and Grand View Christian held firm at the top, while Maquoketa took over for Oskaloosa, which slipped to No. 5 after a pair of losses since the previous poll was released.

South Hamilton will be at home to take on Roland-Story Friday night.
