LYNX GIRLS GOLF EIGHTH: The Webster City girls’ golf team shot a 566 and finished at the back of the eight-team field at the North Central Conference golf tournament in Mason City on Monday.

Clear Lake fired a 387 and claimed the team title at the Mason City Country Club. The Lions also had the individual champion in Ashley DeLong (89) and three of the four scores under 100.

Humboldt (399) was second, led by tournament runner-up Frances Carlson (94).

Ella Dinsdale paced WCHS with a 116. Peyton Hilpipre carded a 123, Emma Bailey a 156 and Tasia Phetxoumphone a 171.

MASON CITY BEATS WCHS GIRLS: Sarah Vogelbacher scored a pair of goals and Lydia Estlund had an assist for the Webster City girls’ soccer team in a 6-2 road loss to Mason City on Monday.

Vogelbacher scored midway through the first half after the Mohawks had jumped out to a 2-0 lead, and again 14 minutes into the second half to trim the Lynx deficit to 3-2. Mason City (3-2) scored three goals over the final 161⁄2 minutes.

“The girls played extremely well … we had some quality chances that we just missed out on,” WCHS head coach Paul Baedke said after his club slipped to 2-5 on the season.

CADETS BLANK LYNX BOYS: The Webster City boys’ tennis team fell to Iowa Falls-Alden, 9-0, at the WCHS courts on Monday.

The Lynx pushed two sets to tiebreakers, but were unable to pull out a win. Tyler Geopfert dropped a first-set tiebreak against the Cadets’ Owen Kinnetz and Aidan Sullivan fell 7-5 in a second-set tiebreak against Dawson Hadwiger.

“The last time we played Iowa Falls we won 15 games. This go around we won 35,” WCHS head coach Michael Ross said. “This group has really improved this season.”

CLEAR LAKE TAKES OUT LYNX GIRLS ON COURTS: Clear Lake won five of the six singles matches at love and handed Webster City a 9-0 loss in a girls’ tennis meet on Monday in Clear Lake.

Charlotte Judkins won three games in her singles match for the Lynx. Emma Vansickel and Izzy Hooker teamed up to win three games on the doubles courts. The teams of McKenna Mitchell and Grace Hoffman, and Judkins and Teagan Gourley won one game each.

HAWK BOYS THIRD AT TOURNEY: Jared Ullestad carded an 82 to lead the South Hamilton boys’ golf team to a third-place finish at the Hawk-Norse Invite at River Bend Golf Course in Story City on Monday.

Roland-Story won the tournament with a 317, 15 shots in front of PCM (332). South Hamilton finished with a 352.

Roland-Story’s Tyler Risdal was the individual winner with a 75.

Trevor Lammers (88), Wyatt Heins (89) and Alex Titus (93) were also counting golfers for the Hawks.

SEASON-LOW FOR SWENSON, SH GIRLS SECOND: Krista Swenson’s season-low round of 44 led the South Hamilton girls’ golf team to a second-place finish in a field of four teams at the Ames Golf and Country Club on Monday.

The Hawks fired a 193 to finish behind only HOIC champion Gilbert (184).

Katelyn Sogard recorded a 48 for the Hawks. Kenady Campbell added a 50 and Cortney Harris a 51.
