Lynx girls downed by Ballard in 1A team regional
HUXLEY — Ballard’s depth and talent were too much for Webster City to overcome in a girls’ Class 1A team regional match-up here on Saturday.
The Bombers dropped just six games en route to a 5-0 victory over the Lynx.
“I have to give Ballard a ton of credit,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “They are an incredible team. They are well coached, they clearly work hard in and out of the season and they are just solid. They don’t make mistakes and when you make a mistake, they don’t miss it.”
McKenna Mitchell took three games off the Bombers’ Anna Zielke in a 6-0, 6-3 setback. Charlotte Judkins was the only other Lynx player to win multiple games; she fell to Lindsay Kaldenberg 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 4 spot.
“I was actually pretty happy with the way we played,” Fisher said. “Ballard is just a much tougher team.”
WCHS will close out its regular season at St. Edmond this afternoon.
