Josiah Brown named academic all-state by IATC
WEBSTER CITY — Following a successful senior year on the South Hamilton boys’ cross country and track and field teams, senior Josiah Brown received one of the highest honors given to prep runners in the state.
Brown was recently named to the academic all-state team in track and field by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. He was one of 41 boys from across the state to make the cut.
To be eligible for the award, athletes had to be a senior, have a 3.8 or higher cumulative grade point average, a cumulative score of 28 or higher on the ACT and they had to compete in at least one event at the recent Iowa Co-ed State Track and Field Championships.
Brown was a member of South Hamilton’s 4×800-meter relay that placed sixth in Class 2A at the state meet earlier this month.
Last fall, Brown completed his cross country career on South Hamilton’s sixth-place team in 2A. He placed 43rd in the field of 135 runners.
