GIRLS GOLF BRIEFS
HAWKS FALL SHORT OF 2A STATE: South Hamilton fell 11 shots short in its bid to reach the Class 2A girls’ state golf tournament on Monday in Menlo.
The Hawks fired a 414 at the 5 by 8 Golf and Country Club to share third-place with Clarinda. Kuemper Catholic posted a 375 to win the regional and will be joined at state by regional runner-up Roland-Story (403).
Ogden’s Maranda Wheelock claimed the individual title with an 82, one shot in front of Kuemper’s Katie Schweers.
Krista Swenson led South Hamilton with a 99, just one shot short of qualifying for state as an individual. Katelyn Sogard added a 101, Kenady Campbell a 104 and Cortney Harris a 110.
LYNX 10TH AT 3A REGIONAL: The Webster City girls’ golf team shot a 534 and placed 10th at the Class 3A regional meet at Willow Creek Golf Course in LeMars on Monday.
Carroll (374) and MOC-Floyd Valley (375) advanced to the state tournament after they occupied the top two spots on the leaderboard.
Spirit Lake’s Marisa Weeks was the individual medalist with a 74.
Peyton Hilpipre led WCHS with a 121. Ella Dinsdale carded a 127, Emma Bailey a 129 and Tasia Phetxoumphone a 157.
