JEWELL — There weren’t a lot of matches, but that didn’t mean the duals weren’t exciting here Tuesday night.

In fact, both of South Hamilton’s duals came down to the final match. And the Hawks delivered each time.

A pin from 138-pounder Lane Swenson was the difference in South Hamilton’s 36-34 victory over West Hancock in its opener. And in the nightcap it was 152-pounder Ethan Young’s turn, as he broke a 36-all tie with a pin of his own to push the Hawks (8-15) past Manson-Northwest Webster, 42-36.

South Hamilton won six of 11 matches and was helped out by a slew of forfeits in the two duals. Four grapplers — Mohamed Yokie (103), Swenson, Young and Nate Laube (182) — put together 2-0 performances. Heston Strohman (113), Jamie Hildreth (120), Jose Galdeano (126), Trevor Thompson (145), Nathan Wilson (160/170) and Colton Willis (220) all had their hands raised once.

A forfeit to Young and an 8-6 win for Laube over Josh Stromer were all that went South Hamilton’s way in the opening eight weights against West Hancock, as the Eagles bolted out to a 34-9 lead.

Yokie righted the ship, as he dominated Derek Oberhelman, 7-0, to start a streak in which the Hawks took five of the final six weights. There was a double forfeit at 132.

West Hancock led 34-30 entering the 138-pound bout. Swenson seized the upper-hand right away and decked Reed Brown in 1:39 to secure the dual victory.

Willis got the first win on the mat against Manson-Northwest Webster, as he flattened Alex Jacobsen in 2:52. The Cougars won the next two matches and added forfeit points to push out to a 36-24 advantage with three weights remaining.

It was all Hawks from there.

Swenson closed the deficit to six points with his second fall of the night; he ended Logan Cruise’s night in 1:03. A forfeit to Trevor Thompson knotted it at 36 and then Young capped the comeback in just 59 seconds against Grant Calmer.
