WEBSTER CITY — A showdown of Top-10 teams and a rematch of last season’s regional duals semifinal in Class 2A will kickoff tonight’s quadrangular wrestling meet at Dallas Center-Grimes High School.

Sixth-ranked Webster City will have its hands full with second-ranked Ballard when they meet in the circle at 5 p.m. The two teams possess a combined 11 ranked individuals.

They last met at Creston High School last February in the regional duals. WCHS was able to pull the upset over the Bombers, 39-30, before going on to fall to Creston/Orient-Macksburg in the regional final.

WCHS (1-1) is coming off a runner-up finish at last Saturday’s DCG Mustang Invitational, a tournament in which 12 of its 14 wrestlers placed. The Lynx picked up a pair of titles from second-ranked 120-pounder Drake Doolittle and second-ranked heavyweight Cooper Lawson. They are both former state runners-up and are a combined 9-0 on the season.

There is the potential for several intriguing match-ups of ranked grapplers. At 138, Ballard will put No. 2 Jarrett Miller on the mat against the Lynx No. 5 Carson Hartnett. Zane Williams, a WCHS senior who is No. 8 at 170, is expected to be up at 182 where he could face No. 2 and 2017 state runner-up Ben Lee. Lawson could tangle with No. 9 Colin Anderson at 285.

The Lynx will also face Indianola and Dallas Center-Grimes in duals this evening. Both schools have a pair of ranked individuals.

Following tonight’s festivities, WCHS will get set to host Saturday’s Dick Kennedy Memorial Duals. Nationally ranked Southeast Polk will once again be in the field.
