JEWELL – After a very long and extremely exciting seven innings, the Hawks prevailed over Greene County in Friday night’s game. The final score was 11-10.

It was an offensive showdown between the two teams. In their opening at-bat, the Hawks (3 – 14 – 0) plated two runs putting them ahead of the Rams. They kept feeding their lead for the duration of the game. South Hamilton never trailed behind until the seventh inning.

Going into the seventh inning the Hawks were up 9 – 5. There wasn’t a single person at the field Friday night who wasn’t on the edge of their seat. The Rams had made a comeback during their at-bat this inning scoring five runs putting them ahead of the Hawks 10 – 9.

To try and keep the Rams from scoring any more runs, the Hawks had four different pitchers on the mound Friday night. Junior pitcher, Garrett Grady, started the game at the mound and pitched five innings for the Hawks. Grady was then relieved by CJ Hewitt.

Zeke Balderas and Cole Berg also saw time on the mound Friday. Berg finished the game for the Hawks.

The Hawks came back in the bottom of the seventh and scored two more runs, making the final score 11-10. The Hawks had a total of nine hits.

“We have had the most hits we’ve had so far this year,” said head coach Kyle Galetich. “It was a huge offensive game.”

South Hamilton travels to Prairie City – Monroe on Monday to seek out another victory. Game time is set for 7:15.
