Lynx trip up Lions in PK’s, High with the match-winner
CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City boys’ soccer team coughed up a 2-0 lead, but not the match here last night.
Clear Lake scored twice in the second half to knot the contest and it eventually went to penalty kicks where the Lynx prevailed for the 3-2 victory.
Jorge Alvayero, Tyler Bultena and Dylan Peck all found the back of the net in the sudden death period. After making a pair of saves in goal, Ashton High came out of net and slammed home the match winner.
Peck and Alvayero notched the first-half goals.
“We played our best soccer of the year by far in the first half,” WCHS head coach Craig Signorin said. “In the second half it was a total momentum change. They started to dominate.”
WCHS (2-5) will be back on the pitch this evening at Iowa Falls-Alden. The varsity match is scheduled to get underway at 5:30 p.m. from Cadet Field.
Lynx JV prevails
The WCHS junior varsity team controlled play and took down Clear Lake, 3-1.
Javier Mora, Casey Kolbeck and Michael Gilbert all scored goals for the Lynx. Cooper Lawson and Jackson Moberly contributed one assist each.
