Hawks depart H-D Invite with 1-3 record

HAMPTON – The South Hamilton volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to highly ranked teams and finished 1-3 overall at Saturday’s Hampton-Dumont Invitational.

The Hawks (13-10) went 1-2 in pool play. They beat South Hardin (21-12, 22-20) and dropped matches to No. 6-ranked (Class 4A) Charles City (21-19, 21-10) and Nashua-Plainfield (21-16, 21-13).

No. 4-ranked (3A) Independence showed South Hamilton the exit in two sets (25-11, 25-14).

Ady Wintermote was the offensive and defensive catalyst on the day, as the sophomore smacked 21 kills and collected 24 digs. Tiffany Jacobson contributed 17 kills and five blocks, and Alyssa Hegland put up 14 kills and 13 digs.

Kenzie Busch handed out 15 assists, and Anna Moss chipped in 15 digs and a team-high five service aces.

South Hamilton will be at home Tuesday evening for a 6:30 p.m. Heart of Iowa Conference match against Greene County.
