VOLLEYBALL BRIEFS: Hawks, Trojets, Lynx JV and freshmen

HAWKS SWEEP SAYDEL: The South Hamilton volleyball team improved to 12-4 overall and 4-0 in the Heart of Iowa Conference with a sweep of Saydel, 25-14, 25-18, 25-10, last night in Des Moines.

Ady Wintermote led the way with six kills and four service aces, and Tiffany Jacobson chipped in five kills and three blocks. Kenzie Busch piled up nine assists.

Kayla Carlson came off the Hawks’ bench to supply five service aces, and Anna Moss matched the total. Moss also had three kills and three digs.

The win sets South Hamilton up for a critical league match against fifth-ranked (Class 2A) Nevada on Tuesday in Jewell. The Cubs (10-4, 4-0 HOIC) share the top spot in the conference standings with the Hawks.

TROJETS FALL IN FOUR: Northeast Hamilton dropped a 3-1 bout to Valley Lutheran last night in Cedar Falls.

Valley Lutheran won by scores of 25-13, 25-10, 19-25, 25-15.

LYNX JV SWEEPS BULLDOGS: Andi Anderson bashed five kills and came up with 12 digs to lead the Webster City junior varsity volleyball team to a 2-0 sweep of Hampton-Dumont last night.

Webster City -5-2-3 overall and 2-0 in the North Central Conference – won by scores of 21-9, 21-17.

Olivia Myers also laced five kills to go along with two solo blocks. Kenzie Garvey chipped in three kills, and Courtney Lampman dished out 16 assists.

Chelsey Wagoner (eight) and Ann Marie LaSourd (five) combined for 13 digs. Keni Geis led the Lynx behind the service line with five aces.

BULLDOGS TRIP UP LYNX FROSH: The Webster City freshman volleyball team dropped a 2-1 decision to Hampton-Dumont last night.

The Lynx won the opening set, 21-14, but the Bulldogs rallied to take the next two, 21-18, 15-13.

A fourth set was played until the time limit; Webster City led 19-9.

Halle Mason and Shalis Mofle both picked up six service aces for the Lynx. Sarah Vogelbacher notched 16 assists, and Mason and Hayley Thompson chipped in five digs each.
