Red Raiders red hot, sweep Trojets

BLAIRSBURG – Inconsistency plagued the Northeast Hamilton volleyball team here Tuesday night, as the Trojets were unable to put everything together to compete in Iowa Star Conference play.

Dunkerton had a little something to do with the Trojets’ struggles as well.

The Red Raiders (10-4, 3-0 ISC) hit with authority and forced NEH (1-16, 1-4 ISC) into numerous errors en route to a 3-0 sweep, 25-11, 25-15, 25-14.

“We had good moments … when it was good it was great, (but) when it was off it was pretty difficult to put things together,” NEH head coach Kacey Pruismann said. “Dunkerton hit the ball well and has a quick defense.”

Seniors Lillian Chamness and Leah Meyer again took the lead for the Trojets, as both lashed five kills from the front row. Classmate Brooke Evans added one kill to go along with eight digs and three service aces – both team highs. Chamness chipped in five digs and libero MaKayla Tapper contributed four.

Meyer did her part at net defensively with three blocks.

NEH will take part in the Dunkerton Invitational on Saturday.
