TENNIS: Defending state champ Gaels blank Lynx boys

WEBSTER CITY – Defending Class 1A state team champion Fort Dodge St. Edmond showed it is again a force this spring with a 9-0 blanking of Webster City in a boys’ tennis dual yesterday at the WCHS Courts.

The Gaels won 90 of the 96 games and eight of the nine matches were claimed by scores of 10-0 or 10-1.

“(St. Edmond) is a good team they return five of their six players form last year’s state championship team,” WCHS head coach Matt Manson said. “It was nice to see our guys not give up, but we were outmatched.”

Ryan Godfredsen had the most success for the Lynx; he dropped a 10-4 decision to Zach Gailey in the No. 1 singles match.
