PREP TRACK: Trojans win 4×400 and medley, place fourth at ISC meet

MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT – Northeast Hamilton opted to load up several relays and the results spoke for themselves here last Thursday night during the Iowa Star Conference track and field meet.

The Trojans easily won the 4×400-meter and 1,600 medley relays; the two events accounted for 20 of their 62 points en route to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.

GMG (1381?2) coasted to the boys’ championship. Colo-NESCO (1171?2) was second, while Janesville (109) placed third.

Nick Jeffers, Kyle Pruismann, Logan Seiser and Tyler Smith worked the baton perfectly and put up a winning time of 3:41.93 in the 4×400 – just under a six-second advantage over runner-up GMG (3:47.01).

Tristan Nicholson joined Seiser, Jeffers and Smith on the medley (4:01.74). The group owned more than a nine-second cushion on silver medalist Don Bosco (4:10.99).

Jeffers accounted for 16 more points as an individual with second-place finishes in the discus (117 feet) and 400 (54.32).

Kyle Pruismann earned six points for his bronze medal effort in the 400 low hurdles (1:01.51).

NEH girls

The Northeast Hamilton girls’ track team competed in just three events and failed to accrue any team points in the ISC meet.

Taylor Olson was the only individual to take part; she finished 10th in the shot put (27-2).

Dunkerton took home the girls’ team title with 1151?2 points.
