BOYS SOCCER: Boone ends 6-match win streak of No. 16 Lynx
BOONE – No. 16-ranked (Class 2A) Webster City rode a sizable wave for more than two weeks, but the Lynx were finally thrown off their board here yesterday afternoon.
Lethargic throughout, Webster City’s six-match win streak was halted by Boone, 2-1. Lynx head coach Craig Signorin didn’t pull any punches either.
“We gotta show up to actually win the game and we certainly did not,” he said. “We played with zero intensity, little effort and very soft. They must have thought we were untouchable out there, which we were most certainly not.”
Seth Crouthamel scored his ninth goal on an unassisted shot in the 53rd minute to bring WCHS (8-3) even at 1-1, but the Toreadors put the winning goal in the back of the net in the 74th minute.
WCHS took 15 shots, but only four were on frame. Boone finished with 11 shots, five coming on goal.
Lynx freshman goalkeeper Ashton High made one save.
WCHS will attempt to rebound on Saturday when it competes in the Waverly-Shell Rock tournament.
