Hawks erupt for 10 runs in fourth, paste CMB 18-2
JEWELL – The outcome certainly wasn’t in doubt, but a 10-spot in the fourth inning put any lingering questions to rest last night at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex.
South Hamilton sent 13 batters to the plate and ripped six hits en route to the fourth-inning onslaught and beat Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, 18-2, in 4 innings.
The Hawks (5-8, 2-4 HOIC) connected for 12 hits; nine different players produced at least one base knock.
“The guys have all really bought into our approach and it’s starting to pay off,” South Hamilton head coach Bret Bell said.
Devin Howard returned from a 21?2-week layoff with a dislocated shoulder and went 2-for-2 with a triple and three runs batted in. John Hegland was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Lucas Olson went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.
Justin Shepherd, Lane Heinlein, Josh Doering and Trevor Ullestad all collected two RBIs. Nathan McSparin drove in one.
Ullestad worked three innings on the hill to collect the win.
