Residents of Webster City are now able to make payments to the city online.
The Xpress Bill Pay system, which went online Tuesday, allows the use of credit cards, debit cards and e-checks to make utility payments. To access the system, visit the city's website at webstercity.com and click on the "To make a utility payment using Xpress Bill Pay" link on the left side of the page. Then, users will be prompted to set up a username and password for the system.
Webster City Mayor Doug Getter said the program will be a helpful option for people in Webster City.
"We have to look to the future of how customers pay their bills and this is another option," Getter said.
Getter said the online system is not replacing conventional payment methods. Those wishing to mail or drop-off payments can continue to do so.
The Xpress Bill Pay system hosts several features. Those include paperless billing, viewing past and current bills online and automatic payment with a credit card.

The use of online credit and debit cards to pay for bills carry a fee. When using that option, people will be charged 2.75 percent of the transaction amount. A press release from the City of Webster City said the fee amount will be displayed for review prior to submitting a payment. Using an e-check will also carry a flat 40 cent fee.
