STANHOPE — The Kid's Tractor Pull event during Watermelon Day was briefly interrupted when a surprise presentation was made. Ron McKenzie, who has for the past several years, headed up this event for the Lions Club was somewhat overwhelmed when a commemorative stone was presented to him in recognition of his 30 years of service to the community as city clerk. McKenzie recently retired from the position. Council member Gary Baker is shown holding the stone while Suzie Moore points out the gift given on behalf of the community. McKenzie had insisted to the council upon his retirement he did not want any party or big ceremony.
