Debra "Dr. R" Donahue Riehle, 61, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1953, in Fort Madison, Iowa, daughter of Walter and Dorothy Welp Donahue. She married Charles "Chuck" Riehle on June 14, 1986 in Des Moines, Iowa.
She graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School and earned her BS degree from Morningside. She then earned her Masters from Drake University and her Doctorate from the University of Phoenix. She was employed as a Guidance Counselor with many schools, including: West High School, Bunger and Central Middle Schools, Waverly-Shell Rock, Wapsie Valley, Saydell High School, and St. Mary in Martensdale. She was also the Academic advisor for the Waterloo Black Hawks. She was the 2012 recipient of the Karen Wente Award, given by the Waterloo Black Hawks. She was involved in P.E.O., many educational organizations, and served as a Waterloo Black Hawks' housing parent for many years.
Survived by: her husband, Chuck; two daughters, Bindy (Sean) Comito Sornsin of Chicago and Kim Riehle of Seattle, WA; a son, Joe (Nellie) Riehle of Olympia, WA; three grandchildren: Jonah Hieb, Raven and Wren Riehle; her father, Walter Donahue of Cedar Falls; and a brother, Steve (Sheril) Donahue of Normal, IL.
Preceded in death by: her mother, Dorothy.
Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service and for one hour prior to services at the church.
