Raymond Ochs, 95, passed away June 25, 2014 in Webster City, Iowa. Service for Raymond Ochs will be held at the Athens Woods Estates chapel on Wednesday, July 9 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kay Christie officiating.
Raymond Edward Ochs was born February 17, 1919 in Denver, Colorado to John and Gertrude (Personette) Ochs. Raymond also had two siblings, Charles and Ruth.
On March 22, 1940 Raymond was united in marriage to Martha Gray. They were blissfully wed for over 70 years and three children were born to this union. He worked for Texaco putting in over 40 years in service first at the gas station attendant level and for the lion's share of his career, as an accountant with the company.
From Denver the couple moved to California, and then Stone Mountain, GA, and finally to Prescott, AZ where they retired. Raymond enjoyed traveling and he and Martha traveled extensively visiting children and grandchildren and then to many different ports during their retirement years. Ray and Martha also enjoyed square dancing. Most of all, he loved spending time with Martha, whom he loved more than life itself and he stayed by her side as health would allow until the very end. Even after she passed, he would always choose to believe that she was just down the hall rather than gone. Ray loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was gracious with his special kind of humor when spending time with them.
Survivors include his children; Peggy (Jon) Young of Stratford, IA, Ed (Jan) Ochs in Simi Valley, CA, and Kay (Jim) Burr of Tujunga, CA; grandchildren, Kay. Christie of Stanhope, IA, Keith (Pat) Young of Council Bluffs, IA, Syrina (Robert) Moussetis of Aurora, IL; Mikael Lewis of Sylmar, CA; Daniel (Melissa) Ochs of Houston, TX; and Brian (Jennifer) Ochs of Newberry Park, CA. Raymond is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Amanda Christie, Melina Moussetis, Kiki Moussetis, Nicole Young, Maggie Ochs, Thomas Ochs, Katherine Ochs, and Matt Ochs; and one great-great-grandson, Jayden Christie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister, and his wife, Martha.
