CLARION - Webster City let Clarion-Goldfield hang around early, but by the middle innings it was all Lynx in a North Central Conference softball contest here last night.
Leading 2-1 after three innings, the Lynx (4-2, 2-0 NCC) scored four runs in the fourth frame and three more in the fifth en route to a 10-2 dismantling of the still winless Cowgirls (0-4, 0-4 NCC).
WCHS ripped off eight hits, including three that went for extra bases, and the Lynx continued to apply the pressure with eight stolen bases. Kaylee Schnathorst had three of the swipes, including her second at home this season.
"The girls did a good job of staying loaded up and staying balanced at the plate," WCHS head coach Jess Howard said. "We're hoping to be able to use our speed all the time."
Catie Boyd went 2-for-4 at the dish and drove in three runs. Schnathorst laced a pair of singles and collected one RBI.
Maddie Anderson and Cassidy Nerland both found the gap for RBI doubles, and Mikaleh McCoy roped an extra-base hit as well.
