Special Memorial Day observances are planned for Monday in Webster City and Williams.
The schedule of events for Webster City are as follows:
8:15 a.m. American Legion members, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary and others participating will meet at the Legion Hall for transportation
8:45 a.m. Services at the Marshall Crippen Bridge on North Des Moines Street to salute those lost at sea. The service is conducted by the American Legion Auxiliary.
9:15 a.m. Services at Cass Center Cemetery, conducted by American Legion Post 191.
10:10 a.m. Formation of the parade will begin 700 block North Alley.
10:25 a.m. The parade will begin and proceed south on Des Moines Street with a wreath presentation at the markers on Des Moines Street boulevard and recognition of active military personnel from Hamilton County. The procession will then continue on south to the Graceland Cemetery entrance and the memorial stage.
11 a.m. Services at Graceland Cemetery conducted by American Legion Commander Ron Keigan. The guest speaker will be Hamilton County Supervisor Doug Bailey.
In the case of inclement weather, the services will be held in Graceland Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
The Memorial Day program will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams, presented by The American Legion, Williams Post 633.
The community choir will perform. All those wishing to join in the choir are asked to meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. prior to the program to practice. Following the program, the Legion Firing Squad will fire salutes at the Williams Veterans Memorial, Williams Cemeteries and Blairsburg Cemetery.
