IOWA FALLS - Consistency from the first tee box to the final green catapulted Webster City's Megan Gilbert to all-North Central Conference status yesterday at Meadow Hills Golf Course.
Gilbert carded a 46 going out and shot an identical score coming in to post a 92 - good enough for seventh place in blustery conditions at the league tournament.
WCHS turned in one of its better team performances in recent memory to finish near the middle of the standings.
The Lynx shot a 407 to place sixth, just two shots behind fifth-place finisher Algona (405) and five shots ahead of seventh-place finisher Fort Dodge St. Edmond (312).
Perennial Class 1A power Algona Bishop Garrigan claimed the team championship with a 376, four strokes better than runner-up Clear Lake (380). Humboldt (387) and Clarion-Goldfield (388) also broke 400.
Bishop Garrigan's Alexa Capesius blistered the course and competition; her 75 won the individual crown by six shots over runner-up medalist Emily Snelling (81) of Clear Lake.
