IOWA FALLS - A victory lap was the perfect way to end a stellar performance for the Webster City girls' track team at last night's Cadet Relays.
The Lynx scored 128 points and claimed a meet title for the first time under the direction of second-year head coach Kristy Manson. WCHS pulled ahead of runner-up Charles City (117) midway through the meet. Iowa Falls-Alden (86) was third.
"I think this is great for morale because a lot of people had to do a lot of moving around," Manson said. "There were girls in relays for the first time together and they were all very adaptable with everything."
Sophomore Allie Flaws continued to sprint at the front of the races. She won the 100- and 200-meter dash in times of 12.81 and 26.91 seconds, respectively.
Flaws also ran the 200 leg of the gold-medal sprint medley relay (1:59.93). She was joined by Emily Dearden, Kali Dawson and Faith McClain.
Senior thrower Kaylee Schnathorst had her best meet of the season. She heaved the shot put (36-9) to the top of the standings and placed second in the discus (91-9).
