HUXLEY - The South Hamilton girls' track team picked up six medals at Friday's Ballard Invitational.
Competing in Class B, the Hawks managed to score 62 points to finish sixth in the field of eight squads. Northeast Hamilton scored in just one event and placed at the back of the field with four points.
Roland-Story (158 points) utilized its depth to overwhelm the field. Clarion-Goldfield (103) was second, followed by Madrid (87), Prairie Valley (84) and CMB (81).
"Roland-Story and Clarion-Goldfield are two really quality teams and I thought we ran well against them," South Hamilton head coach Dan Brodie said.
Kayla Monthei returned from injury to scoop up the silver medal in the 800-meter run in 2:38.47. She also ran the opening leg of the runner-up 4x800 relay (10:45.59) alongside Allyson Ervin, Kassy Hegland and Meghan Fisher.
Ervin secured the bronze in the 400 hurdles (1:11.70), as did Fisher in the open 400 (1:05.78), Hannah Myers in the 800 (2:40.38) and Kayla Lucas in the 1,500 (5:42.66).
