IOWA FALLS - The lousy weather conditions earlier in the week and yesterday both played roles in a rough outing for the Webster City girls' tennis team on Thursday.
Unable to practice since Monday because of the chilly temperatures and rain, the Lynx were rusty in singles and doubles in a 9-0 loss to Iowa Falls-Alden.
"I'd like to blame it on the weather, but they were playing in the same garbage we were," WCHS head coach Heather Kierzek said. "We just haven't had a lot of time to practice this week and it showed. Our last practice was on Monday and even then it was cold and rainy."
The Cadets won all six singles matches either 8-1 or 8-2.
WCHS (3-2) battled a little better in doubles, particularly in the No. 2 match. Ashley Richardson and Jordann Nagel took four games in an 8-4 loss.
The Lynx will face another daunting task today when they travel to Huxley to face Ballard. They'll then host Boone on Monday at the WCHS courts.
