HAMPTON - All of the close matches went Hampton-Dumont's way and that allowed the Bulldogs to avenge an earlier dual-meet loss to Webster City here Friday afternoon.
The two teams split the six singles matches; Hampton-Dumont won two of the three doubles bouts to claim the meet win, 5-4.
"We had a tough match the first time we saw them, but were able to win the close matches. Friday was a different story," WCHS head coach Matt Manson said. "Court time is hard to come by some weeks and we were just not ready to compete."
Jesus Del Valle clinched the meet for the Bulldogs when he topped Ryan Godfredsen in a tiebreaker (7-4) to win 11-10 in the No. 2 singles match.
Dakon Bergquist was a two-time winner for WCHS. He knocked off Nate White, 10-7, in singles and teamed with Godfredsen to win on the doubles court, 10-8.
Avery Hopp and Colin Hippen gave up just three games combined in their singles wins for the Lynx.
