EMMETSBURG - With Avery Fuhs firing missiles at the pins, the Webster City boys' golf team continued to put the rest of central Iowa on notice yesterday afternoon at the par-35 Five Island Golf Course.
The Lynx aren't just good; they're great ... right now anyway.
Even on an unfamiliar track, WCHS squeezed in below 150 again and improved to 4-1 in duals with a 149-162 victory over Emmetsburg.
Fuhs led four team members with rounds in the 30s, as he found his way under par for the second time in three days. His 1-under 34 put him at the top of the leaderboard by two shots over runner-up Mike Pugh of Emmetsburg.
Fuhs bogeyed the par-4 third hole, but responded with birdies at the par-5 fourth and par-4 ninth.
"He's playing as well as he has since he's been in high school and he's really comfortable now,"?WCHS head coach Dave Brighton said of Fuhs. "Even when he gets in trouble he seems to be able to scramble and recover."
