RANDALL - Work has started on the new fire station building in Randall, City Council members there were told during the Tuesday night meeting.

With warm weather arriving, trees have been cleared on the building site, footings will be poured later this week, and the steel building is delivered waiting to be erected by local volunteers and firemen. Plans are for the interior of the building to be finished by the firemen.

In a related matter, the Fiscal Year 2014 budget was amended by the council to allow for expenses for the new building as well as additional snow removal expenses.

Joe Martin of Martin Pest Control, Clare, was at Tuesday's meeting to review plans for this summer with the city. The company handled pest control duties in 2013.
